NEW YORK – A high-priced prostitution ring that was based in Brooklyn but did a brisk business on the internet has been busted, prosecutors said.
The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office on Wednesday announced the indictment of 17 people and five corporations for operating the high-priced prostitution and drug ring.
District Attorney Charles Hynes [pictured] says the defendants have been charged with running several websites that advertised escort services and with selling cocaine and other controlled substances.
Girls were on-call 24/7 through a variety of websites including Cupid Direct, Discreet Club and High Class New York. 1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa reports there were also listings on Craigslist.
Some clients paid as much as $10,000 a night, Hynes said, and the charges to their credit cards were disguised on their statements.
He says the Sheepshead Bay-based ring brought in more than $2 million a year.
