Gene sez: Sin City head man David Sturman forwards me the following exchanges from a couple of weeks ago. These e-mails are relevant to what Skeeter Kerkove says in the following article: www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=27350
Sturman writes to Skeeter March 13, 2008: Skeeter, I had your old email address and wanted you to see Brian’s [Sin City editor] critique on your movie. I have not seen yet. See it below. BTW, I am very serious when making these movies and don’t appreciate any stupid remarks concerning me or my people on them, I don’t consider it very sexy and we are selling sex.
Brian writes the following memo to Sin City general manager Barbara Olsen, March 13:
I wanted to give you some preliminary feedback on Skeeters movie.
First the good. The content is hard and in your face!
Now the bad, after cutting two scenes, the technical and the production value is horrendous. Through out the scenes there is camera noise, (from the camera guys hands moving on the camera). It is so constant that there is no way that it can be taken out. The camera work is incredably shaky and there are constant bobbles. Also, there are camera shadows all over the talent through out, it even occurs during the pop shot.
Furthermore, I have already mentioned it to David when he called the day Skeeter turned in the movie that the sets up are not usable. David mentioned that he wants me to take them all out. Therefore, the scenes are going to start right from the gitgo, with the talent already within the BJ position.
The reason for this is because for some reason Skeeter thought that it would be cleaver to change the names of the talent to certain people within this office. This occurred within three of the five scenes. Just for the record the people that we mentioned where, (Sc#1 Liz and Brian; Sc#2 Liz and Snyder; Sc#3 Barbara O. and Mr. Sturman).
Therefore, my over all analysis SO FAR not good.
When informed of these critiques, Skeeter apparently wrote Sturman back on March 19:
David, I apologize for letting you down. I did not mean any disrespect by using names, I meant it to be funny, I used bad judgement, I am sorry.
Please remove my 2500 dollar producer/director fee, I did not earn it, since I failed to meet the correct criteria. I value Brians opinion to be the very best. He is an expert in his field, such as you are. I also agree with everything you told me.
I am sorry for using the names, I thought everybody would get a kick out of it, I made a huge mistake, once again, I am sorry.
I worked very hard, to get the most hardcore scenes possible at the most reasonable price.
Respectfully yours, Skeeter.
