LINCOLN, Neb. – Changes in state policy could be made after an alleged sexual assault by a patient at a Nebraska state hospital who got pornography with help from state employees.
Gov. Dave Heineman said on Tuesday “it’s disgusting” that state workers would help a patient at a Beatrice home for developmentally disabled people buy pornography. Heineman said he’s working on a plan to restrict similar behavior in the future without violating the civil rights of people in state care.
The alleged sexual assault by a male patient against a female patient occurred Oct. 5 at the Beatrice State Developmental Center.
According to an investigation report, hospital staff had taken the alleged assailant to porn shops and allowed him to have pornographic material.
