Las Vegas- Kent Wallace, VP of the Vavoom Media Group, puts out the following: Sunset Thomas (host of vavoomtv.com “The Hottie Handicapper) has been banned from presenting the 2007 Championship Cup to the San Francisco Bay Bombers at Kezar Pavillion
The announcement was made after the following letter from Rose Colombo was sent to league President Dan Ferrari. Sunset is pissed and a petition has been started. “I’m handing out a Championship Cup not giving out a hand-job!”

An Open Letter to Dan Ferrari:
Greetings, Dan.
There is a situation occurring within the Roller Derby Community being propagated by your organization that may possibly go down in the annals of Roller Derby history as a new all-time low.
I am referring to your recent decision to utilize Sunset Thomas as a promotional tool and presenter at your Roller Derby game scheduled for April 19 at Kezar Pavilion.
For as long as I can remember, I have heard members of your organization comment in the negative regarding the image of the “modern day” roller girls. I have repeatedly heard your organizational members taunting, making fun off, denigrating and just plain rake ‘em across the coals about the “sexy and provocative” way they dress and occasionally conduct themselves in public.
Now, all of a sudden, you think it’s appropriate to orchestrate the Presentation of your 2007 Championship Trophy by a self-proclaimed porn star.
As the owner of a professional organization, you can do whatever you want. But as a member of the Roller Derby community, you must realize that what you do to promote the sport affects us all; past, present and future.
You have chosen to adopt the “it’s no big deal, it’s all in fun” attitude. I would like to point out that Georgia didn’t sound like she was having any fun when she was apparently “blindsided” with the recent Internet Interview you arranged.
In my opinion, it IS a big deal, and it’s not anywhere on the “fun” list I have pertaining to Roller Derby.
It is sufficient to say Roller Derby has image issues already that you feel free to pass comment on frequently. I would venture to say many will see your current promotional plan as being hypocritical at best and just plain unacceptable and disrespectful of the sport at worst.
Dan, I urge you to re-think your new affiliation with the pornography trade. You risk further alienation and ridicule of the entire Roller Derby community by your shameful actions.
Up to this point, OSDA has supported ALL of the Classic and Old-School skaters as the heroes and athletes they are. I personally have been a supporter of the ARSD and have even traveled to San Francisco to attend your events. We have even tentatively agreed to host an ARSD game in Corpus Christi once our track is set up.
Should you decide to continue with your plan of featuring Sunset Thomas as a presenter and co-promoter of the April 19th game, OSDA will have no choice but to disassociate ourselves with the ARSD and remove all support of your organization.
Your actions are contrary to the image of Roller Derby we know and love. In no way will we support less than a family friendly version of our sport. Up to this point, I believed this was your intent also.
I encourage you, for the sake of our sport; please don’t go down this road.
Respectfully
Rose Colombo
