South Carolina- An Edgewood Middle School teacher is in custody, accused of having sex with a 15-year-old male student.
Angel Simmons Lindle, 37, was arrested Friday afternoon. She is facing seven counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Lindle is a seventh- grade life science teacher for Greenwood School District 52 in Ninety-Six. The alleged victim is her former student.
According to Sheriff Tony Davis, the alleged misconduct occurred numerous times in Greenwood County. At least one incident occurred in an adjoining county. Davis says the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Ninety-Six Police Department in their investigation.
Dr. Dan Powell, Greenwood School District 52 Superintendent, said Lindle has been on medical leave from the district since September. Powell spoke to GwdToday just before 7pm tonight.
“We will not be tolerating anybody that has those kind of charges against them. We are cooperating with law enforcement”, said Powell.
Powell says Lindle will be suspended from her position pending the outcome of the investigation.
Earlier today Lindle posted a message on her Facebook page stating “Angel is good-bye to everyone.” She posted a similar message around 1:00am this morning saying “Angel is very sad. Everything is over for her and I really mean everything all because of a lie. If anyone that had any sense heard it they would know it was not true.”
Lindle is currently being held at the Greenwood County Detention Center on a $126,000 bond.
