SAN ANTONIO – Two soldiers charged with public lewdness remained jailed Monday after they were observed having sex on the grounds of one of the nation’s most revered historic sites, the Alamo. The active-duty U.S. Army personnel from Fort Sam Houston were arrested on the misdemeanor charges about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Several irate visitors had complained they saw them having sexual intercourse.

The witnesses pointed out the oblivious couple to the Alamo Rangers,who found both naked from the waist down.

Arrested were Matthew Hotard, 19, and Kristine Nissel, 18, officials said. Hometowns were not available, but they apparently were from out-of-state and assigned to the Army’s 232nd Medical Battalion
