Fielding your questions this month is AVN’s current “Transsexual Performer of The Year,” Wendy Williams. Check out some of her stuff and then send some questions here.
SFBG: You’re known for using blogs and video diaries to develop and maintain a really intimate relationship with your fans. Can you tell us a little about them? Are they mostly straight men?
Williams: Yeah, they are. You gotta understand that my fans are attracted to the feminine qualities they see in me and that many of them just consider the dick to be a fetish. Transsexual porn has a very divided fan base, actually. For example, there are people who want to see the transsexual as a bottom only. For them, the fact that she has a dick is just kind of a best-of-both-worlds thing. They would never do it in real life, but they like to see it. I don’t know what that means as far as sexual orientation goes, but I do know that most of my fans identify as straight men. They’re never gonna go to a gay bar and try to pick up guys because they’re not attracted to masculine qualities. They like long hair, breasts, and asses. Obviously, since I have a cock, there’s some question about their actual straightness, but that really doesn’t matter. I’m sure I have bi-sexual fans and I’m sure there are people out there who just want to fuck anything with legs. Whatever. I don’t believe in rigid labels.
SFBG: Yeah, the lines always get blurry when you really start to look at this stuff. I think smart people view sexuality as a continuum that shifts around throughout life. The labels don’t really fit anyone perfectly.
Williams: Yeah, it’s hard not to use the labels sometimes though. I mean, it’s pretty obvious that transsexual porn is marketed to and made for a straight male audience. Ask any gay guy if he’s attracted to transsexuals and you’ll get the same sort of answer: “God, no! I don’t want titties on my back. That’s disgusting!” Transsexuals and drag queens have a place in the gay community, but we’re not sex objects. We are a form of entertainment.
SFBG: Why are there more MTF people in porn than there are FTM? I mean, Buck Angel is the only “Man With a Pussy” out there as far as I know.
Williams: Hmmm. I don’t really know the answer to that, but if I had to guess, I would say it’s because MTF people still have the mind capacity of males. Sex for us is much easier to do. An FTM transsexual, on the other hand, will still have the mind capacity of a female so maybe sex seems different somehow. I know a lot of FTM’s and when I talk about porn with them, they’re just kind of like “ah, whatever. I’d rather just be married and happy.” They seem like lesbians in that they’re more driven toward relationships and stuff. They just want to settle down. Not me. To me, sex is just sex. No matter what I change around and tweak on the outside, my mind is still that of a male, I guess, and the hormones can only do so much. You know, all of this is hard for me to understand too. I would guess that the prevalence of MTF’s in porn has something to do with the different ways males and females think about sex. But I’m certainly not trying to speak for anyone else.
SFBG: Fair enough. We’ll get into more of this later. I have a few questions from readers now, if you’re cool with that.
Williams: Oh, I’m just driving around St Louis, looking for a post office, honey. I’ll answer any question you want.
SFBG: Ok, first, here’s one from a straight couple. I guess they’ve seen some work you’ve done with other trans couples and they’re wondering if you’d ever work with “normal folks” like them. They also mention cuckolding, whatever that is. Actually, let’s just do the question in their words. Here we go.
Jason and A: We are a straight couple and we love shemales. We have a movie where you do a husband and wife and we found out that [that scene] and [the one you did with] Buck are the only scenes like that. Would you ever do a cuckold movie?
Williams: Ummmm. Well, like I said earlier, I’m not into to females at all so I wouldn’t do a regular scene with a husband and wife. I just hate when it seems like the person is just doing it for the money. I have done one scene with a straight couple –it was Joselyn Pink and Vin Deacon– but I was extremely attracted to the guy and the woman made me feel really comfortable so it was okay. But that’s not what the couple that asked the question is talking about. They’re talking about cuckolding.
Cuckolding is when you have a female –usually a white female– who belittles her husband by fucking a super-hung, usually black man. The woman verbally abuses her husband throughout the scene and then when the hung guy finishes, the husband has to clean up the mess. It’s not always an interracial deal, but more often than not it is. To answer the question, yes, I would definitely do that. It would turn me on immensely. I might flip it around a little bit and get a black male to fuck me while the wife watches. That’d be fun. I don’t want to fuck a girl though. Remember that.
SFBG: Oh, wow. I was way off on that one! Glad you cleared that up for me. Um, I don’t want to misinterpret anything else so let’s just do a regular Q&A with the rest of these. Here goes….
Heather D. When you look at your work, are you proud of what you see?
Williams Oh god yes, I’m very proud. I always want to be involved in porn. When I’m done performing, I’ll just move further over to the business side of things. But I’m still young, so you’ll be seeing me for years to come. The thing I’m proudest of so far is the AVN award I won a few months ago. I am 2009’s “Transsexual Performer of the Year.” It’s the highest award you can win in our genre and it took me years to get it. I worked so hard and there were so many naysayers. I mean, sometimes it seems like my hate club is bigger than my fan club. The award feels extra good to me because I’ve never fit the typical transsexual porn star mold, you know?
I don’t look like your Vanities or your Gia Darlings and I don’t try to make my voice sound like a helium balloon. People never believed I’d make it for reasons like that. But I did. So… winning AVN in 2009 was like giving a middle finger to all my haters. I’m not just talking about fans here either. I’ve been dissed by companies, directors, co-stars, etc. I like to throw my award in their faces every time I get a chance. It feels great!
