For a monthly fee of $6.95, members receive a new erotic DVD every month that is theirs to keep. The company selects an adult DVD from a leading production studio, such as Adam & Eve, that they normally sell for $14-$40 and sends it to their members via first class mail.
“We never expected this service to attract women in such masses,” said Chad Chunglo, co-founder of TooTimid.com. “Although nearly 60% of our customers are comprised of females ages 25-45, we envisioned this being a service geared more towards men that would allow us to broaden that customer base.”
Since first announcing the service exclusively to their newsletter readers in the last quarter of 2004, which saw initial subscriptions soar into the thousands, TooTimid.com has seen a steady increase in subscriptions everyday from their normal Internet traffic. By the middle of the year they hope to be in a position where members can choose their own DVD from a select group of titles, as opposed to members simply accepting whatever that month’s selection is.
“Although the service generates little to no profits, we hope that by consistently delivering a quality product month after month, TooTimid.com will become the first choice for people when they decide to purchase adult novelty items, erotic novels and other adult DVDs,” Chunglo added. “Now that we know women are attracted to this service as well, we have a great opportunity to build our brand with twice as many people as we first anticipated.”
