North Carolina- The woman who pleaded guilty to running a high-priced prostitution ring in Charlotte is talking to investigators about her business operations – and her customers.
Sallie Wamsley-Saxon kept detailed records while running an exclusive Internet-based escort service that prosecutors said made about $3 million and charged clients up to $700 an hour, said her attorney, Melissa Owen.
Owen said she would not comment on Wamsley-Saxon’s list of more than 500 clients.
“I’m sure there are many men in this city who are nervous that their names have shown up in her records,” Owen said.
Wamsley-Saxon and her husband pleaded guilty last month to charges including conspiring to entice women to cross state lines to engage in prostitution. Wamsley-Saxon faces up to four years in prison and her husband, Donald Saxon, faces up to two years. A judge has said that both could receive reductions if they provide substantial information to investigators.
George Laughrun, a lawyer in Charlotte, said he has received at least 10 calls from men.
“They want to know: ‘Am I safe? How far is the investigation going to go?’ They want to know if they’re criminally culpable.”
During the discussions, Laughrun said, he asked the men how much the men had spent for sex and how they paid.
“I wanted to know if they paid with a company credit card or check and if they deducted it as a corporate expense. If they did, I told them their criminal exposure rises.”
A client identified as “B.C.” in court documents paid $10,000 to travel with a prostitute to Chicago for a weekend in March 2007. It’s unclear whether clients who used the escort service will be charged.
