PITTSBURGH - The mother of a man who died with his friend in Canada wants to stop an adult film company from releasing a pornographic film featuring her son.

The families of Mark Kraynak, 23, of Uniontown, and Steve Wright, 20, of California, say the two probably fell to their deaths in a quarry in late August after they tried to escape a taxi driver who was chasing them in Laval, just north of Montreal. Police believe they didn't pay their fare.

Both were adult-film actors and Stephan Sirard, who operates the California-based French Connection Francaise Agency, said he intends to market on March 1 a film featuring Kraynak and Wright in three scenes with a woman.

Sirard said proceeds will benefit Wright's family, especially his mother, Cheryl Crockett, who is a divorced mother with two young children. He said Crockett knew about her son's work, and he conferred with Wright's family before deciding to sell the video.

But Janice Kraynak said she doesn't want Crockett or Sirard to profit from her son's death.

Crockett has an unlisted telephone number and could not immediately be reached for comment.
