Adult industry market research firm SWR Data has announced that it will release data from its annual State of the Creator survey at an XBIZ LA workshop, taking place at the Kimpton Everly Hotel.
SWR Data Publishes 'Clip Trend' Report
According to a report published by SWR Data, titled “What’s Behind the Rise in Clips,” the number of creators claiming clip sales as their primary source of revenue rose 24% year-over-year. The percentage of creators reporting fan site subscriptions as their primary source of income fell 20%. This data is part of SWR's annual State of the Creator survey, which polled more than 500 working adult creators in the fall of 2025.
SWR Data co-founders MelRose Michaels and Mike Stabile noted that creators are increasingly looking for stable income sources due to social media instability and the constant need to find new fans. The report suggests a potential shift in the creator economy, with SWR Data planning to dive deeper into the data over the coming weeks and months.
State of the Creator Survey Raises Over $8,000 for Nonprofits
The State of the Creator survey also raised over $8,000 for nonprofits serving sex workers. This was made possible through commitments from Chaturbate and Stripchat, which matched SWR Data's donations. Each survey generated $15 for groups including Free Speech Coalition, Pineapple Support, SWOP, SWAID, BIPOC Collective, and Red Canary Song.
SWR Data co-founder MelRose Michaels stated that the survey is the most in-depth research yet on creators and the creator economy. The data highlights critical trends emerging in how creators are earning money and what's driving them when choosing partners and platforms.
Creator Marketing Trends
A recent report by CreatorIQ found that average reported annual influencer marketing budgets have grown 171% since last year, with 71% of organizations increasing their investment year-over-year. Nearly two-thirds of this new spend is being reallocated from traditional paid and digital channels.
The report notes that creator content is now the engine powering the entire marketing mix – flexible, scalable, and proven to drive ROI. The Era of Efficacy has arrived in the creator marketing space, with organizations adapting to economic uncertainty and rapid AI adoption by accelerating their budgets.
