[The Insider.com] 20/20 is doing a feature story on Manhattan Madam Kristin Davis this Friday. The special is supposed to be an exclusive chat with the former escort boss. However, Chaunce Hayden of Steppin' Out magazine got to sit down with Davis this past week and got the real exclusive. Here's some portions of the Steppin Out interview with Davis.
ON RIKERS ISLAND
It's so bad. It's like a third world country. It's dirty and there are rats and roaches. It's run down. It's not like you would expect a New York City jail to be like. It's bad. It's horrible. There are maggots. How does it exists? But I had a fan club there. The other inmates wanted to work for me!
ON THE ESCORTS
Many of my girls I found at the Thompson Hotel in Soho. I would approach them in the lounge and ask if they wanted to make great money. I remember driving in Soho last year and on a huge billboard was one of my escorts! I remember thinking, "WOW! She works for me!" It was a Michael Kors ad. I have to say I was pretty impressed with myself. I thought, "I've arrived in New York." But as well as these girls do as models, they still like to shop and Barney's and buy expensive things and it takes a lot of money to maintain the lifestyle. I had one girl who worked for me whose parents are super famous. Her father is a super famous sports star. She was running away from her apartment because her boyfriend was abusive. When she came to me she was missing the whole back of her hair because he had cut it out. She's a beautiful girl and I ended up meeting her father several times. We became very close but he had no clue what I did or what his daughter was doing for me. He thought we did real estate.
ON HER CLIENT LIST
The Daily News thinks they have my client list but they don''s bigger then what they think it is. I don't have a little black book. I actually have an extensive online data base. It's all digital with last names and phone numbers. It's like an online diary with over 10,000 names. I want to name names for my book but I'm so afraid I'll be sued by the celebrities who are my former clients because even though it's true, they'll want to save face. Even if it doesn't go anywhere, it's still $50,000 to defend yourself. But I wouldn't feel bad about giving out the names of my clients and the girls who worked for me because not one person has called me or checked on me to see how I am. I lost everything. It's like my whole life has been a lie.
BEST FRIEND IN PRISON
While I was in prison I got very close to Remy Ma. Her life got destroyed because of her profession. She wasn't allowed to defend herself in court. The shooting was an accident but all the events leading up to the shooting weren't allowed. She's so smart and talented and she's in jail for 8 years. She told me that you have to carry again today if you're a rapper or an athlete. She said people are always trying to rob you. You have to carry a gun for your own safety.
ON ELLIOT SPITZER
He was labeled by escort services as being "difficult." But that didn't mean he was a bad guy, it meant he liked rough sex. He was very aggressive with the girls.
ON NEW YORK MAGAZINE
I got the best response to my escort ad's in New York magazine. They're expensive, but that's where many of my clients got my phone number.
CLIENTS
Many of my clients were mobsters. Many of them are in the strip club business and they always seem to have lots of cash to spend on escorts. They wouldn't think anything of spending 10 grand on a girl. A lot of times they would pay that kind of money if I would personally show up at their place. I wouldn't do anything, but they liked the chase. They wanted to see if they could get me there. I had one client who's CEO dad stopped payment on his son's credit card bill. He owned me 37,000 dollars over 3 months. So I called him multiply times and stalked him. I threatened to call his wife and his father. He finally went to the bank and got me a cashiers check for the full amount. I really would have told his wife for that kind of money!
FINAL WORDS
I wouldn't have lived my life any different. However, jail is a horrible place and I don't wish to return. Keep in mind if you get into this business [the cops] are going to take all your money and everything else you own. At the end of the day you'll ask yourself if it was worth it and your answer will be, "No." So don't bother. It's not like you just throw up a website and get 10,000 clients. It was blood, sweat and tears. It was 24/7 work and it was filled with theft and deception. My over head was 45,000 dollars a month! It's not easy. You just don't start a business like this and have the money rolling in. And once it does start to come in you're arrested and it's all taken away!
